The History of the Twain Harte Open

It all started in 2018 — because apparently a normal weekend in Twain Harte wasn't enough.

A group of friends got together with a simple question: who is actually the best? Nobody knew the answer, but everyone was extremely confident they already had it figured out. Thus, the Twain Harte Open was born.

What started as a weekend of games quickly became a highly prestigious sporting event that is recognized by absolutely no governing bodies. There were trophies, bragging rights, questionable strategy, and enough trash talk to make everyone briefly forget that most of the competitors had no idea what they were doing.

Brandon won the inaugural championship in 2018. In 2019, Dogo took the crown, presumably giving everyone else two full years to come up with excuses.

The records pick back up in 2022, when Chris claimed the championship. Dale followed with a title in 2023, and Donnie took the crown in 2024.

Five tournaments. Five champions. And roughly 47 people who believe they were robbed.

Over the years, the Open has grown into an absurd gauntlet featuring darts, chess, pool, flip cup, bocce ball, cornhole, mini golf, Kan Jam, horse, Kubb, horseshoes, beer pong, liar's dice, and whatever other activity someone can convince the group counts as a sport.

Every point matters. Every loss gets remembered. Every questionable call gets brought up years later. And every competitor eventually discovers that they are, in fact, an elite athlete — at least according to themselves.
